The natural selling points are that gift cards are more personal and flexible than gift certificates or cash, but there are other reasons to love CardEx prepaid cards. For example, as members use the card over time, they can check the card’s balance online so they always know the remaining amount. Also, because the cards are Visa branded, they’ll have the same purchase protection as a Visa card. An added protection is that a member can register the card with CardEx. If it is then lost or stolen, the unused balance can simply be transferred to a new card for a fee. Members will also appreciate that there are no PINs to memorize.
How the program works
Financial institutions set their own price for a card, and CardEx provides the processing and also assumes liability. You activate the card upon sale using the CardEx Web portal, which also allows monitoring of usage. These cards have a 12-month expiration date. They do not support PINs, reloading, or cash back.
