Pelican State Credit Union of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has purchased a building that will quadruple the space of its current headquarters. The institution plans to renovate the site to meet LEED (Leadership in Energy and Enviironmental Design) standards--meeting the highest levels of "green" building performance and environmental responsibility. Rogue Federal Credit Union of Medford, Oregon was featured in Credit Union Magazine for its lending program to help members with financial troubles retain their homes and autos. The program includes in-depth counseling, budgeting assistance, and the restructuring and consolidating of loans. The program produced both loan and asset growth for Rogue. (2/10)

SELCO Community Credit Union of Eugene, Oregon, is opening a branch office located in a Walmart store. This branch, in Redmond, Oregon, is its first one within a store. The institution has 12 other locations around the state. (1/10)

NW Preferred Credit Union of Tigard, Oregon, has promoted VP Steve Canfield to the position of CEO, replacing retiring CEO, Tom Edwards. Canfield has more than 20 years of experience in the industry, including a position with the NCUA and volunteer posts such as his current one on the board of directors of the Credit Union Association of Oregon. iQ Credit Union of Vancouver, Washington, was named by Seattle Business magazine as one of Washington's 100 Best Companies to Work For in 2009. The awards winners are chosen by employee nominations. iQ Credit Union's 2009 renovation of its headquarters won a Community Pride design award for the builder, EHS Design. (12/09)

Rogue Federal Credit Union of Medford, Oregon received a Desjardins Youth Education Award for a leadership in youth financial education. The institution was honored for its "Money Mammals" curriculum for kids. (12/09)

Three of our customers have received some very significant CUNA awards. A 2009 Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award was received by Rogue Federal Credit Union of Medford, Oregon. Also, Louise Herring Philosophy in Action Awards were given to Down East Credit Union of Baileyville, Maine, and Credit Union 1 of Anchorage, Alaska. The Maxwell award is for outstanding community service, and Herring award is for internal applicatiion of credit union philosophy. Congratulations! (12/09)

SELCO Community Credit Union of Eugene, Oregon recently opened a full service branch in a Redmond, Oregon Wal-mart store. This is SELCO's fourth branch office. (11/09)

Mountain America Credit Union of West Jordan, Utah recently gave $11,875 to a local school district. For the past eight years, the institution has made an annual donation; the amount given based on points and scores attained by the schools' sports teams. (11/09)

Congratulations to customers who won Best Practices awards from the Credit Union Journal. Each of the following three programs resulted in significant increases in income. SELCO Community Credit Union of Eugene, Oregon won an award for Refi Auto Loans and New Relations for its direct mail campaign to refinance loans that were previously held by car dealers. Best Source Credit Union of Waterford, Michigan won a Sales Culture award for a training effort to develop member relationships and cross-selling. Credit Union 1 of Anchorage, Alaska received a Sales Culture award for its campaign to raise service levels for all staff members. (11/09)

Fitzsimons Federal Credit Union of Aurora, Colorado was recognized in Credit Union
Management
magazine for its use of humor in TV advertising, and its ten year history of using this medium. (9/09)

Empower Federal Credit Union of Syracuse, New York was recently featured in Credit Union Management magazine for the way it rapidly built and published a revised Web site. The institution hired seven student interns from a local school of visual and performing arts. The cost-effective remodel was complete in three months, giving valuable experience to the students and an excellent site to its members. (9/09)

Whatcom Educational Credit Union of Bellingham, Washington, recently distributed $12,900 to non-profit organizations as part of an annual community grant program. Schools, a health center, an environmental program, and a special educational program were among the ten recipients. (8/09)

Deseret First Credit Union of Salt Lake City, Utah, acheived #3 ranking in the Total Return of the Member category in Callahan's ranking of credit unions. The institution made it with high scores in all three categories that are considered: Return to the Saver, Return to the Borrower, and Member Service Usage. (8/09)

Goldenwest Credit Union of Ogden, Utah, received a "Work/Life Award" from the Utah Department of Work Services. Given as part of a Utah's Best Places to Work competition, the institution was lauded for its corporate culture and its determination to not cut staff or benefits despite the recession. (7/09)

Advantis Credit Union of Portland, Oregon, was featured in the July 6 issue of the Credit Union Journal due to an impressive 300% growth in lending over the past 15 months. The institution credits its excellent service to auto dealers. (7/09)

Education First Credit Union of Beaumont, Texas, has begun building a 5,000 square-foot training facility at its headquarters. The growing institution has also opened seven branches in supermarkets over the past year. (6/09)

Star One Credit Union of Sunnyvale, California is now providing custom, private loans to students at the Standord University Graduate School of Business. The loans, which don't require a U.S. consigner, are designed for international students. (6/09)
