Here's the latest: Lacamas Community Credit Union of Camas, Oregon, had a hand in saving a life recently. On June 10th, Lacamas employee Jennifer Ernst was on the phone to a member when the member had a seizure. Jennifer and other Lacamas employees realized there was an emergency and called for help. The member was located and rushed to a hospital by paramedics. He survived and is currently out of the hospital and in a rehab center. Bay Federal Credit Union promoted Tonée Picard to Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer. Picard was previously VP of Marketing. American First Credit Union recently participated in National Credit Union Youth Week, April 20-26th. Themed “Got Green”, American First hosted essay and coloring contests and purchased 168 trees representing each new account opened and deposit of $20 or more. Foothill Credit Union of Arcadia, California, recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. Part of the celebration involved giving away five $2,000 college scholarships Affinity Federal Credit Union's CEO and Board Chair, John Fenton, has been inducted into "Who's Who in America's Credit Unions." The honor recogizes those who have made a significant contribution to our nation's credit union movement. Family Trust Federal Credit Union of Rock Hill, South Carolina, was presented with a Laura M. Fleming Diversity Award by the South Carolina Credit Union League. The league commended Family Trust for its successful payday loan alternative and for partnering with United Way. Empower Credit Union's President, Jennifer Schilling, received a "Forty Under 40" award from the Milwaukee Business Journal. Winners are judged on their leadership and their efforts to improve their communities. Los Angeles Police Federal Credit Union recently donated $90,000 to benefit a variety of Los Angeles Police Department organizations and events, such as the LAPD Peer Counseling Program and National Police Week. Three of our customers were featured in the April issue of Credit Union Magazine.
Empower Federal Credit Union of Syracuse, New York, opened its 16th branch office. This one is located inside the Veteran's Adminstration Hospital and is open to VA employees only. Boulder Valley Credit Union of Boulder, Colorado, received the CleanTech Sustainable Business Silver Medal of Honor from the Colorado CleanTech Initiative. Among the institution's outstanding "green" initiatives are solar panels at the main branch, compact fluorescent lighting at all branches, and the use of recycled paper and soy or corn-based inks for all marketing collateral. Whatcom Educational Credit Union of Bellingham, Washington is using a new records storage system for records compliance. OnBase Records Management replaces hardcopy storage, provides easy document access, and is programmed with document retention rules. Campus Federal Credit Union of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is planning a dynamic new Web site to serve as a virtual branch for customers. The site will include RSS feeds on loan rates and Google maps to branch locations. Affinity Federal Credit Union of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, held a free coaching workshop for small business owners. Among other topics, businesses were coached on the stages of successful growth. Mountain America Credit Union of Salt Lake City, Utah, held its third annual business services open house. The event showcases the large array of business services offered by the institution. SELCO Community Credit Union's Craig Allen is a winner. Allen, a financial advisor for the Eugene, Oregon institution, won CUSO Financial Services LP's 2007 Gold Pacesetter Award. Allen's honors are for his outstanding service in providing investment services. Congratulations. Affinity Federal Credit Union of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, is offering a Green Auto Loan program as an incentive for purchasing environmentally friendly vehicles. The program offers a .25% APR loan reduction to members who buy an auto that meets certain environmental criteria, such as a specific fuel economy rating, and other "green" characteristics. Suffolk Federal Credit Union of Medford, New York recently named William J. O'Brien as President and CEO. O'Brien comes with an excellent reputation for management and marketing, with prior experience at NuVision FCU and Kinecta FCU. Los Angeles Firemen's Credit Union has begun using a new Web-based checking program. The new system enables members to deposit checks into their accounts on the Web or by phone. The new system, by CUBUS Solutions, has proven to be a success. Between one and two million dollars of transactions occurred in the first three month. Sound Credit Union of Tacoma, Washington, was featured in a recent issue of Credit Union Times due to the institution's innovative loan initiatives. These include paperless loans, instant decision loans, and a new loan pricing system. Sound received CUNA's "Excellence in Lending" award in November. |
